Overview
In the University of Michigan's Department of Climate & Space Sciences and Engineering (CLaSP), I worked on heliophysics data — the study of the Sun's influence on the solar system. My focus was telemetry from the Ulysses spacecraft, which spent nearly two decades measuring the solar wind over the Sun's poles.
I processed 10+ years of Ulysses spacecraft telemetry using MATLAB, R, XML parsing, and Tecplot, then integrated the cleaned results with 3D magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) simulation models. To make the analysis tractable and repeatable, I built automated data-cleaning and correlation pipelines that surfaced novel solar-wind pattern structures relevant to space-weather modeling.
I produced reproducible research workflows using LaTeX-based reporting and simulation-visualization tooling, so that results could be independently verified and extended by other researchers in the group.
